Torrevieja promenade, near Las Rocas

Jake stands looking at one of the enclosed beaches at Torrevieja promenade. This little pier is always busy, but somehow seems to be a relaxing environment at the same time.

On the day we went there, we discovered little schools of fish swimming in the shallow water, near to the splashes of kids and adults. There were the obligatory sun-worshippers on the high rocks and along the walls, while the skinny local children dive-bombed into the water from the pier.

Tourist train in Torrevieja

This is the lovely tourist train that goes along the coast of Torrevieja. You get on at the markets on Paseo de la Libertad and it'll take you on a tour up right up the coast to the replica Moorish tower near La Mata.

Along the way, you'll see all the gorgeous beach regions, some of the backstreet bars and eateries along the way and some of the fantastic activities the coastal area has to offer.

La Casona restaurant, Torrevieja

Allow me to share with you a picture of La Casona restaurant in Torrevieja. After taking the cute little tourist train around the coast of the city, we returned to the Paseo de la Libertad and had a lovely pizza-based lunch at the outside tables, shaded from the scorching hot afternoon sun.

Yes, there was a minor mishap when my Spanish failed me and I somehow ended up with a beer instead of a Fanta, but I take full responsibility for not communicating my needs well enough.
